OK I read through 75% of Assitis's posts (the same type which I have seen time and time again in defense of Margaret Sanger), and your comments... and the thought occurred to me that there was no attempt by Assitis at a justification for anything other than Margaret Sanger. Which in and of itself is kind of sick.

No problem with abortion but let's make sure not to disparage the founder of PP for her racism.

The killing of innocent babies could not possibly be related to anything other than the casual lack of desire to parent them... and the only defense she has is "you took the words out of context."

I'd like to see any of her words in context that would justify what she did, or somehow take away from the extreme nature of the so-called out of context words about how badly she wanted to exterminate so-called mentally infirm and physically unfit and black populations.

I would challenge Assitis to take a single quote from this article and put them back in context to explain what Margaret Sanger either ACTUALLY said, or what she ACTUALLY meant. Just one would be nice.

I knew about the race-centered eugenics stuff, but I'd never heard her "stop the stupid people from procreating" quotes before. What's bafflingly ridiculous about that is the fact that children of parents with extremes of intelligence usually come out average. Really smart parents won't necessarily produce smart children, and really dumb parents can produce geniuses. What she tries to paint as practicality is really just as stupid as the racist part of it.

It amazes me that the likes of Asitis will take the side of NYU, which clearly states that they offer the "selected works" of Sanger. Selected? Hmm... Why not, for the sake of "education" print the "entire works"? Because the goal of NYU is NOT education, it is propaganda. They simply want to reinforce that planned parenthood is good. They would have to admit that Sanger was a half-crazed, sexual deviate interested in eliminating races of people based on her own perception of the perfect race.

Maafa21 : New film exposes Margaret Sanger and Planned Parenthood. The film is called:

Maafa21 Black Genocide in 21st Century America:

Some claim that the abortion issue is about choice, privacy, women’s rights, or reproductive freedom.

But that’s just marketing hype.

In reality, the legalization of abortion was about EUGENICS.

And now, a stunning new movie lays it all out with incredible documentation.

The film is called Maafa 21 and it exposes a plan to create “racial purity” that began 150 years ago and is still being carried out right now.

It’s about the ties between the Nazis, the American eugenics movement and today’s “family planning” cartel.

It’s about elitism, secret agendas, treachery and corruption at the highest levels of political and corporate America.

Maafa 21 will show you things the media has been hiding and politicians don’t want you to know.
So if you’re ready to see the real agenda behind “choice,” fasten your seatbelts …

IT’S SHOCK AND AWE TIME!

Asitis, it is very interesting that you seem to be unable to properly spell Christian. Why do you insist on 'christian'? It reminds me of someone close to me, a rabid anti-Christian, who is unwilling to even say the name 'Mary'.

Gerard, this is a very nice website. If I remember correctly, Vince P. was at Covenant House at the same time. We went to school together and I am sure he would value this site.

Actually Gerard, those comments do NOT miss the main point.

When your argument that PP professionsals are hypocritical is based on the premise that they got a college education by being abstinent and yet they push BC on others, then it is important to point out to you that this is wrong. I don't know if you are unaware that the vast majority of college students and the majority of high school graduates have had sex or if you just choose to ignore this fact.

Similarly, it's important to point out to you that the high rate of abortion among black women coincides with a high rate of unintended pregnancy. You seemed to be unaware of this as well. Which I must say surprises me.

Gerard,
You write well. God has given you the gift of eloquence.

Back to the original topic:
Asitis,
I agree that it is important to read original writings rather than commentary if you want to rightfully understand an author. That goes for "researchers" at NYU as well as "christian conservative writers". I urge you to take Gerard's advice and read some of Sanger's writings, so as not to rely on quotes that may be taken out of context. As Stephanie commented, Sanger's "Pivot of Civilization" (text online) is a good place to start. While reading, note the faulty "research" she uses to draw conclusions. Look at sample sizes (often a small handful of anecdotal stories). Look at numbers. Look at the conclusions of the "research" (e.g., of men drafted into the US Army, "47.3 per cent...of the population had the mentality of twelve-year-old children or less--in other words that they are morons", "Authorities tell us that 75 per cent. of the school-children are defective.") Are her statistics and conclusions really believable? She tends to appeal to people on an emotional level. Take a good, hard look at what she says. Under critical examination, Sanger's arguments fall apart and reveal her pro-eugenics bias.

One has to pity Sanger. If I give her the benefit of the doubt, maybe she actually wanted to do good in relieving poverty. But the truth was lost in the darkness of her vision. Instead of seeing real bona fide ways to help women (as listed in other posts above), she brought more chaos, disorder, and sin into the world. Most of all, she failed to see the beauty in God's designs. Very sad.

And by the way, letters after someone's name, signifying college degrees, don't make a person more intelligent, more capable, or somehow magically more special than anyone else. Bethany, if she is good at research, can potentially know more than a researcher at NYU. Advanced (or any) education encompasses a broad base of knowledge. An independent person focusing on a particular subject can amass a much greater, indepth understanding and expertise in his/her area of concentration. Think of the little boy (I've known a couple of these) who can identify the name and habits of every dinosaur discovered (OK, an exaggeration, but you know what I mean). I'd be lucky to remember the few I learned in my college comparative vertebrate anatomy class.

There are also many brilliant people out there who's circumstances or interests never take them through college. God gives us all different gifts. Degrees, accolades, and honors don't make one better than another. Sanger couldn't understand this. I hope you can do better, Asitis, and see that all life has value.
