Gianna Jessen survivrd an illegal, very late term attempt at saline abortion in 1977, and suffers cerebral palsy as a result. In addressing the targeting of the handicapped for abortion, she made the following statement before a packed room at Queens Hall, Parliament House, Victoria, Australia.
Ladies and gentlemen, there are things that you will only be able to learn by the weakest among us, and when you snuff them out, you are the one that loses.
The Lord looks after them, but you are the one that will suffer.
…and what arrogance, what absolute arrogance, and it has been an argument for so long in this human place that we live, that the stronger should dominate the weaker, should determine who lives or dies.
The arrogance of that. Don’t you realize that you can’t make your own heart beat?
Don’t you realize that all the power you think you possess, you really possess none of it?
It is the Mercy of God that sustains you, even when you hate Him.
Thanks for a great post, Doc. I copied the quote you referenced from Gianna Jessen and posted it on my own blog. All due credit given.
A belated thank you for your service, Subvet. I should have posted one on November 11. The men and women of the Silent Service have been integral to our safety and security.
God Bless

Well, this does fit the pattern of God. After all, He allowed himself to come into the world in the most helpless way of all – as a newborn, born into abject poverty to a simple humble maiden with a carpenter as her husband.
And God has a pattern throughout history of using the simple and the most humble among us for his own designs.
