In late December I received a phone call from my cousin telling me that my Aunt Vivian, who is also my godmother, had only days to live. Back then I asked for prayers, and so many responded graciously. Those prayers effected a rally on Aunt Vivian’s part that bought her another month with us, vaulting her over three different advanced infections, and several conditions in a manner that can not be explained medically.
That extra month was an extraordinarily grace-filled month for Aunt Vivian, and for the family.
Today, we laid this good and holy woman to rest, and I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of you who lifted her up in prayer, prayers without which she would not have been sustained for a grace-filled time of transition.
In 1960, Aunt Vivian held me in Church and answered for me at my baptism. For fifty years she more than lived up to the sacred trust placed in her as a role model of faith, of goodness and holiness. She led the way by example and I have no doubt that tonight this great woman advocates for us before the Father. Her work here is done.
And after a brief respite this weekend, I’ll continue mine on Monday. Thank you again for all of the prayers. They were answered many times over.
God Bless.
Eternal peace grant unto her O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon her
May Vivian rest in peace.
A life well lived is a great consolation to those left behind.
I learned this when my mom passed away in 1993.
I am sorry for your loss, Dr. Nadal.

There can be no greater testimony to a life well lived.
My heartfelt prayers for you in your loss of such a beloved woman, Gerard. May you take comfort in this temporary parting, and joy in knowing that Vivian is at peace.
Sorry for your loss.
(I had been wondering how she was, but was afraid to ask — thanks for updating us here.)
I’m so sorry for your loss Dr. Nadal. May you and your family find comfort in your time of grief and may she rest in eternal peace.
Dear Gerry,
I’d just like to offer my condolences on your Aunt Vivian’s passing. My Godmother’s passing was similar for me. She was a beautiful holy soul and I adored her and felt so watched-over by her. God bless you as you mourn the loss of this lovely lady of faith in your life.
And I’m sure you’re right, that she watches over you still.
In Christ,
Lisa
