Must-See Video of Jon Scharfenberger in Action on Campus

October 21, 2011 by Gerard M. Nadal

I was at the wake today for Jon, and will drive back up for the funeral mass in the morning. I sat here tonight and watched this video of Jon doing his thing for SFLA’s Pregnant on Campus Initiative, which he was directing. This is masculinity in action; gentle strength born of a life lived in union with his God.

Enjoy these few minutes with Jon, and rejoice that we were gifted with him in the time we were allotted; then let’s make this video part of Jon’s legacy by helping it to go viral!!

Pray for us, Jon! We need the prayers, as you well know.

UPDATE: We’re within a few thousand dollars of being able to pay the full cost of Jon’s burial. Many, many thanks to all who have given already. The pro-life community would like to take this burden from Jon’s family, especially as he died doing the hard work of pro-life witness. Regina and I will be donating again. If folks haven’t as yet, every little bit counts. It all adds up. Thank you again, and God Bless!

I am sure many of our babies greeted you in heaven…hug them for us!

Such a wonderful young man, masculine yet tender, 100% committed to helping young women in crisis pregnancies find the help they need. Such a senseless tragedy! May many young people strive to follow Jon’s footsteps as a compassionate pro-life leader.

What a a courageous young man taking on a serious issue and approaching young people in a non threatening way, but a way that will make them think. I’m sure from all the comments I’v heard that this was only a very small part of what he did. May God bless other young people with a spirit like his to carry on his work.

I posted this video on my blog. May God rest his soul. My heart breaks for his family.

I already posted this comment on another thread on this blog, but as I was commenting on this very video, I want to address it again.

The very campus where this was filmed is where my son hopes to finish his education while parenting his child. With that in mind, Jon’s effort was not just interesting fact-finding but rather trail blazing in the very place my son will struggle to swim up the waterfall of parenting on campus.

Jon belssed us in doing this work and I am thankful.
