Speaker Quinn

Yesterday, a Federal Judge in New York issued an injunction against the unjust law that sought to muzzle and destroy New York City’s pregnancy centers with odious mandatory signage and telephone disclaimers. The law was not enjoined in part, but in its entirety. Given the politics in this neck of the woods, that’s as clear a condemnation of New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn as can be imagined. It’s certain that she’ll appeal, but given the judge’s complete disdain for the obvious Constitutional violations, an appeal seems ill-fated.

Quinn and the bill’s sponsor, Councilwoman Jessica Lappin, both get slopped at the same trough by NARAL and Planned Parenthood, so no doubt they will go back to the drawing board and craft a new attack.

There were a great many people who fought this fight in New York, on many different levels. I shudder to name names, as there were simply so many and I couldn’t possibly put together an exhaustive list. However, here is a partial listing of people or organizations in the thick of the fight (Not all in any particular order):

Chris Bell, Good Counsel Homes
Dr. Alveda King and the National Black Pro-Life Coalition
Chris Slattery, EMC Pregnancy Centers
Chaplain Viviana Hernandez
Father Peter Pilsner
Bill Harder, Crossroad Foundation
Greg Pfundstein, Chiaroscuro Foundation
Ed Mechmen, Archdiocese of New York
NYC Councilman Dan Halloran
NYC Councilman Fernando Cabrera
The Alliance Defense Fund
The American Center for Law and Justice
Mrs. Florence Maloney
Reverend Michel Faulkner
Reverend Bill Devlin
Theresa Bonopartis, Lumina
Metro Clergy for Better Choices
New York Life Team
Rev. Donald Saddler
Mayor James Garner, Long Island Republican
Ed Farrell
Bishop Roderick Caesar
Father Benedict Groeschel
Bishop Clark
Father Gill
Father Gerald Murray
Father Peter West
Dr. Elizabeth Rex, Children First Foundation
Dr. Anne Mielnik
Deacon Greg Kandra, Currents (Net TV)
Jill Stanek
Steve Ertelt, LifeNews.com
LifesiteNews.com
EWTN

To these need to be added those I can’t recall at the moment (pre-senescence), the multitude who testified before the New York City Council, who lifted us up in prayer, who called their Councilmen and Councilwomen, and who marched and stood with us at City Hall when the vote was cast.

Most of all, God and the host of Heaven.

This fight is not over yet, not by a mile. However, this ruling represents a serious blow to this movement by NARAL and Planned Parenthood. It also is a major defeat for Christine Quinn, the angry and tyrannical Speaker who would be Mayor. This was, and remains a total team effort, with no superstars. Some have been more visible publicly, but all have poured their hearts and souls into this fight. If folks notice a name glaringly omitted from the list, contact me ASAP.

I don’t think today is a day for taking a victory lap. It is a day for recognizing the thousands and thousands of human hours spent by all who fought this fight in New York, and those who supported them, especially the families.

Most of all, it is a day to give glory, honor, and praise to our God who has been with us throughout this long ordeal in New York, and the much wider nightmare since 1973. It is a day to praise God for the good that He has brought out of this ordeal, the emergence of a pro-life community of Black pastors that is growing as we speak.

Gloria in excelsis Deo!
Et in terra pax hominibus bonae voluntatis!

It’s been quite a week here in NYC. We had a great pro-life billboard, calling attention to the fact that 60% of African American pregnancies end in abortion, come down 24 hours after it went up. Thanks to some great thuggery by our proabort lobby, waitresses were reportedly abused in the building hosting the three-story banner simply because…

…they were waitresses working in the same building hosting the banner.

But the fun has only started for the merchants of death in fair Gotham. This coming Wednesday, the City Council is poised to pass a law that will hobble our pregnancy resource centers. So for our modern-day Margaret Sangers (Council Speaker Christine Quinn, Councilwoman Jessica Lappin) it’s a heady week. Evidently 60% of black pregnancies ending in abortion is an acceptable number for them.

Less intellectually and morally bankrupt individuals might look at those numbers and look for ways to lower them by doing things like the PRC’s do. But not our little darlings on the Women’s Issues Committee. They simply cannot permit themselves to join forces with those in the pro-life community and work toward commonsense solutions for a community beset by destructive forces that beggar the imagination.

The word is on the street now about the numbers. It will only continue to make the rounds and continue to permeate the consciences of all New Yorkers. Eventually, the rising tide of blood will drown the pathetic arguments of Quinn and company. It will become harder and harder for Quinn to explain her actions, actions made with the full knowledge of the numbers.

In politics, comedy has a way of becoming tragedy for the careers of those given to such base behavior. New Yorkers have great good sense and have a long history of sending scoundrels packing when they enter the ballot booth. That’s the beauty of our tradition of peaceful transition of power. We vote the bums out.

Better days are coming for our most disenfranchised citizens. As soon as New Yorkers have had the time to marinate in the truth, they’ll elect servants with the wisdom and decency to do what is right and just, and not what is most expedient.

Truth and Goodness will have the last laugh.

The Billboard erected on Wednesday by Life Always, telling the message that the most dangerous place for an African American is in the womb, was taken down the very next day.

Gone in a New York Minute.

Al Sharpton crawled out of his sewer to provide the appropriate faux outrage. The company that erected the billboard claimed as their rationale for removing the sign that restaurant employees in the building hosting the sign were being harassed, and that they were concerned that violence might ensue.

That’s right. The people who proclaim CHOICE will harass waitresses just trying to scrape out a living, and threaten violence unless theirs is the only voice heard. These are the same people who are going to pass a bill on Wednesday of next week which will effectively shut down crisis pregnancy centers in New York City.

Abortion MUST be the ONLY act in town.

Obviously, the proabort crowd in NYC does not think that 60% of all African American pregnancies ending in abortion is too many. Their revulsion and disgust were saved for those who tried to bring this atrocity to light, So it begs the questions:

If 60% of all African Americans who come into existence never make it out of their mother’s wombs, what was so untruthful or offensive about that billboard?

If 60% doesn’t make the bile rise in the back of their throats, then 60% is an acceptable number to them, no?

Since 60% is not an objectionable number, what is?

70% ?
80% ?
90% ?
95% ?

So, at least we now have Council Speaker Christine Quinn on record as not objecting to such appalling numbers. The same for Public Advocate Bill De Blasio, and Al Sharpton.

These are not liberals. Liberalism has always looked at poverty and tried to ameliorate it. It has tried to do all that it could to keep families intact, to lift them up when poverty threatened them with death and dissolution. As a young man, I was proudly liberal, because liberalism was taken up with the corporal works of mercy. Many liberals back then detested abortion, and regarded it as extremist and monstrous.

Times have changed.

Today, liberalism sees death as the sole solution to life’s vexing problems. If killing 60% of African Americans in the womb were the necessary pre-condition for young women to advance economically, unencumbered by a child, then Harlem and East New York ought to resemble Scarsdale and Beverly Hills. Black neighborhoods ought to be awash with college degrees and economic prosperity.

In truth, they are more desperate and dismal than at any time before legalized abortion.

In Brooklyn, NY, we call that a clue.

Bitches and Ho’s are how young black women have been celebrated in rap music for decades.

That, too, is a clue.

When we remove responsibility for the consequences of sexual behavior, the body becomes nothing more than a plaything. When Planned Parenthood operates 78% of their operation in inner-city neighborhoods and facilitates this understanding of the body, the predictable disaster of a 60% abortion rate necessarily follows.

This is big business, and the abortion industry has its hands firmly on the levers of power here in New York. Tragically, most of our leaders have so completely sold out that 60% of black pregnancies ending in abortion is to them, like water rolling off a duck’s back.

It was a great effort, Life Always. The targeting of your billboard by the abortion industry mirrors the targeting of the very black babies on whose blood they feed, and whom you are trying to save.

The babies, the billboard, all gone in a New York Minute.

They aren’t very literate.
They don’t grasp science.
They’re impulsive and self-centered.
They’re un-churched, un-Christian.
They’re intellectually lazy.
They’re trouble-makers.
Life to them is cheap.
They’re sex-driven.
They’re slow to learn.
They’re greedy.
They don’t fit in with polite society.
They can’t function in Christian Civilization.
They’re Savages.

No, I’m not speaking in the voice of an Antebellum Plantation Owner regarding his slaves, though I could understand how one could be led to believe it, so entrenched is this list of stereotypes. I’m actually describing the proabort left who are waging a genocidal war against African Americans, and the time has come to end this selective targeting of blacks by Planned Parenthood, who operate 78% of their “clinics” in the inner city, where blacks comprise 12% of the U.S. population.

Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards, and Rep. Nancy Pelosi

Isn’t it perverse that the shopworn stereotypes of blacks are actually quite descriptive of those who hate them to the point of enslaving and killing them? In psychology it’s called ‘projection’.

Of course today one doesn’t hear the leaders on the left speak these words about blacks, at least not publicly.

VP Joe Biden

Unless of course it’s our Democrat Vice President Joe Biden speaking of Barak Obama when they were both U.S. Senators:

“I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy,” Biden said. “I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”

The FIRST??? Really Joe???

It says quite a bit about the man making the statement.

These are evil people, with an evil agenda, and the time has come for them to be exposed for just who and what they are. They are unfit to govern, and until they address all of their shortcomings as human beings, as outlined in their stereotypical bill of indictment above, will remain unfit for public service.

NYC Council Speaker Quinn

Blacks need to wake up to the genocide happening right under their noses, and to the reality of the modern Democrat Party and the fact that abortion is the central organizing principle of their party. Whites need to come to grips with the new manifestation of racism, one so much deadlier than any other, that it makes the days of the Klan seem quaint by comparison.

In New York City in 2009, 60% of black pregnancies ended in abortion.

60%

Numbers that staggering are everyone’s problem.

More to come here at Coming Home during Black History Month.

NYC Council Speaker Quinn

From Live Action: “Sex trafficking of minors is a Federal crime and is punishable by imprisonment for 10 years to life. 18 U.S. Code 1591”

“Any person who aids, abets, or counsels a Federal crime to be committed may be punished as if they had committed the crime themselves. 18 U.S. Code 2”

Under the law, those who aid and abet child sex trafficking are considered as indistinguishable from those who run the rings. Certainly Planned Parenthood’s behaviors in the latest series from Live Action make them as culpable as the people they understand to be sex-traffickers.

Today we see the latest revelation from Live Action, showing us Planned Parenthood in the Bronx, NY not even blinking at the presence of child sex-traffickers before them. One of the workers counseling the pimp is a clinical supervisor.

These are NYC Council Speaker Christine Quinn’s friends. These are the people she takes campaign contributions from. These are the people whose legislative bidding she does as she marches on with her war against New York’s pregnancy resource centers.

There is no room left to hide for Quinn.

Either she returns all money ever given to her by Planned Parenthood and withdraws bill 371, or she will be hounded by the pro-life community as no better than the sex-trafficking pigs she supports.

Game over, Quinn.

It hasn’t been a very good week for New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn. Planned Parenthood’s lap dog on the New York City Council has been helping fellow council member, Jessica Lappin drive through the legislative body a bill targeting New York’s Pregnancy Resource Centers with sign restrictions that meet with Planned Parenthood and NARAL approval. The bill would also constrain PRC’s from notifying law enforcement in the case of a child who is the victim of rape, incest, or sex trafficking unless that frightened and bewildered child is suddenly possessed with the objectivity, wisdom, and fortitude of a grown adult.

Last week, a judge in Baltimore ruled that city’s law (similar to bill 0371) to be unconstitutional on the grounds that the free speech rights of PRC’s were violated by pro-choice advocates determining the speech of pro-lifers. A permanent injunction was to be instituted today.

Then today, Lila Rose released the first of another series of sting operations against PP, this time showing a PP center in NYC’s backyard (Perth Amboy, NJ) where the nurse office manager encouraged what she thought was a pimp and a prostitute running a child sex-trafficking ring. The manager gave advice on everything from how to lie about the very young girl’s ages to make them seem older, to advising that they have girls who just had abortions just do oral sex in the two weeks afterward, to how to avoid parental notification in general. See the video here.

Quinn and her fellow traveler Lappin have the data on the genocidal numbers in NYC’s abortion industry, and have not rescinded the bill.

They have seen the Baltimore law struck down and have not rescinded the bill.

They have had their financial ties to Planned Parenthood and NARAL exposed in the New York Media, and have not rescinded this NARAL and PP-sponsored bill.

Now comes Lila Rose.

These are evil, wicked women for whom the Constitution means nothing, Public Health data mean nothing, parental rights mean nothing, and the rights of children to be protected from predators means even less.

Speaker Quinn wants to be the next Mayor of New York. If Bill 0371 is driven through the Council, in spite of all of the above, she will suffer a blistering two years in the run-up to the primaries. We need leaders who side with parents, and not the predators in Planned Parenthood. As it is shaping up, Speaker Quinn’s refusal thus far to rescind a bill aimed at crushing those who are the only decent alternative to NARAL and Planned Parenthood makes her unfit for public office. This is a representative democracy, where leaders do the bidding of the decent families who are the backbone of society, and not the bidding of the child predators.

It’s put up or shut up time for the Speaker.

Of course, if she doesn’t win the mayoral nod, she may still get “Best in Show” from Planned Parenthood.

When Dr. George Tiller was murdered, there was a hastily gathered, yet spontaneous outpouring of grief in New York City’s Union Square. Many women carried the poster, pictured with its grief-stricken bearer to the left. How odd that this abortionist should have been grieved as no other.

But George Tiller was no mere abortionist. He was the best at taking post-viable infants and killing them in such a way as to minimize the risks to the mother.

His murder was as barbaric as his means of putting bread on his family’s table. Scott Roeder is where he belongs.

At the Rally: NYC Council Speaker Christine Quinn

At the rally were the two key players in New York’s current war on Pregnancy Resource Centers, Christine Quinn (pictured right) and Councilwoman Jessica Lappin, who left the note pictured below. Talk about a world gone mad.

George Tiller was a false Messiah in every sense of the term. He didn’t bring hope, or healing into women’s lives. He pandered to their fears of motherhood while soothing their apprehensions surrounding the monstrous evil about to unfold. He murdered half the patients who came to him, and the futures of the half who survived.

And when a well-meaning, but equally murderous individual took Tiller’s life, those who champion the slaughter of innocents exploded in grief. That includes Council Members Quinn and Lappin.

When people claim that pro-life candidates don’t matter at the local and state level, look at the legislation being driven through the NYC Council. It does matter. It matters a great deal. Here we have two disciples of a martyred butcher who have set out to drive women from the very PRC doors that hold out hope.

Join us in our National Petition to defeat Lappin and Quinn’s efforts to establish legislation regulating PRC’s, legislation NARAL and Planned Parenthood intend to take all over the country. Join us in this national movement to push back against Tiller’s disciples. Click Here to visit our site and sign the petition.

God Bless

My article in today’s Headline Bistro.

Next week I will join other doctors and concerned citizens and give testimony before the New York City Council on the truth of abortion’s myriad effects on women’s physical and mental health, future fertility and pregnancies.

The City Council is proposing legislation that will severely restrict the ability of Crisis Pregnancy Centers (CPCs) and Pregnancy Resource Centers (PRCs) in their outreach to women contemplating abortion. (Read the particulars here). Council members have swallowed the lies from Planned Parenthood and NARAL (National Abortion Rights Action League) about the safety and efficacy of contraceptives and abortions, as well as the assertion that CPCs and PRCs speak of these issues with no medical expertise and are driven by “medieval doctrines,” according to one Council member.

At the center of this storm is the president and founder of Expectant Mother Care Crisis Pregnancy Centers, Chris Slattery, who operates twelve centers in New York City. Surrounding Slattery are Planned Parenthood, NARAL, the entire registry of over 250 New York City abortionists, and New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn.

Chris Slattery

Chris Slattery’s success has raised their ire. This past October, Expectant Mother Care turned twenty-five. Under Slattery, they have served over 100,000 women with over 32,000 documented saves of children from abortion. At a national average of $425 for abortions (many being much more expensive in New York), that means EMC has deprived the abortion industry of at least 13.6 million dollars. Therein lies the real issue.

New York City is the abortion capital of the United States. While we rejoice with Kansans, who last week announced that there are only three abortion centers left in their state, the absolute number of abortionists in just this city alone is nothing short of mind-boggling. Abortion is big money here in this city, and with big money comes big distortions of the truth.

Chief among the many distortions is the notion that PRCs don’t speak with medical expertise. In truth, Slattery retains medical directors for his chain of PRCs, which use ultrasound technology in their counseling of clients. (In this, I am proud of the role played by my brother Knights of Columbus in our Ultrasound Initiative, where we pay for half of the machine and require the oversight of a medical doctor).

PRCs counsel using medical information from top-tier medical journals. They reported at the American Association of Pro-life Obstetricians and Gynecologists:

• By 2008, at least 59 studies had demonstrated a statistically significant increase in premature birth or low birth weight risk in women with prior induced abortions.

• (According to an Institute of Medicine Report) “African-American women deliver their infants before 37 weeks of gestation twice as often as women of other races, and deliver their infants before 32 weeks of gestation three times as often as white women. . .”

• African-American women have three times as many abortions as white women, which accounts for the increases seen in premature African-American births.

• In a 14-year study conducted in Finland, of over 1.2 million pregnancy events, women who chose to abort their pregnancy died of ALL CAUSES combined (disease, suicide, accident, homicide) within a year at a rate 3X higher than women who chose to deliver.
• “According to the research, a minimum of 20-30% of women experience adverse, prolonged post-abortion psychological reactions. The results of the four largest, record-based studies in the world have shown abortion is associated with increased risk for mental health problems.”—Priscilla Coleman, Ph.D. Bowling Green State University

• John Thorp, M.D., of University of North Carolina School of Medicine analyzed three studies and found in women who had a previous induced abortion a 30% increase in placenta previa rates compared to women with no abortion history. Thorp also noted a meta-analysis by Anath et. al., which found a 70% increase in placenta previa rates in women with a previous abortion compared to women with no abortion history (OB GYN Survey, Vol 58, No. 1, 2002).

• 50% increased risk of breast cancer in women having abortions before a first full term pregnancy.

And those are just the highlights. Somewhere along the way the right to an abortion has given way to a mandate to have an abortion, especially in minorities. Ostensibly this is supposed to relieve poverty and increase opportunity. According to that logic, with blacks and Hispanics combined representing 25% of the U.S. population and having 52% (25 million since 1973) of all abortions, Harlem and Detroit ought now resemble Scarsdale and Beverly Hills. The tragic fact is that the inner city is more squalid and desperate than ever before.

Since 1960, there have been over 1.8 billion abortions worldwide – most in the name of relieving poverty, the poverty New York’s misguided City legislators believe abortion can attenuate.

So on Tuesday, Nov. 16, several of us will go into the City Council chambers and meet with certain ridicule as we fight to protect our CPCs and PRCs – centers whose sonograms, in their experience, convince 90% of women to keep their babies. We don’t fear the ridicule. We accept it as evidence of the opposition’s fear of our effectiveness. What we fear is that an illegitimate constitutional “right” is now being transmogrified into an imperative through pending legislation aimed at scaring away pregnant women before they come through our doors. Such legislation will herd thousands more each year to their slaughter.

In the weeks to come, we will be lobbying legislators with the truth as we deliver packets of medical journal articles. As we do so, we invoke the protections of our Blessed Mother and Saint Gerard Majella, patron saint of expectant mothers.

A friend calling to mind a departed scandal monger remarked, “He really wasn’t a bad man, he was just a slob”.

One would like to say the same of New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn as she assaults E.M.C. Pregnancy Centers and the other crisis pregnancy centers in New York with proposed legislation that will,

“…compensate for ambiguities like unclear signage at the centers, the bill, set to be announced on Tuesday, would require, among other things, signs at the entrance and in the waiting rooms to inform women that the center does not provide abortions or contraceptives approved by the Food and Drug Administration, and that it does not provide referrals for those options, either. Signage would also need to make it clear if no licensed medical professional is on the staff.”

according to a New York Times article today.

Chris Slattery, president of E.M.C., is quoted in the Times as responding:

Chris Slattery

“They don’t do pro-life counseling,” Mr. Slattery said, referring to Planned Parenthood. “Why don’t we have on Planned Parenthood’s door ‘No pro-life counseling, only pro-abortion counseling’ — O.K.? Let’s just have a level playing field.”

Indeed, how about legislation that requires Planned Parenthood to show 4D sonograms of the baby to the mother prior to abortion. Why not make the penalty one year in prison and loss of medical license for three years as a first offense, three years in prison and five year loss of medical license as a second offense?

Indeed, let’s level the playing field. Let’s require Planned Parenthood to stop the lies and tell women the truth about their babies’ developmental status and identity?

There is no reason to suspect that Ms. Quinn is a bad woman. But if she is closing her ears to what the post-abortive women are saying about Planned Parenthood’s lies, then she’s acting like a bit of a legislative slob. Our laws must be just. They must protect women by demanding that women be given all of the facts in order to make fully informed consent.

Ms. Quinn should stay her hand, and join us this January on the steps of the U.S. Supreme Court to hear the gut-wrenching testimonies of post-abortive women who were lied to by abortionists. She must demand full and open hearings that listen to Dr. Donna Harrison, president of the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

She must listen to breast surgeon Dr. Angela Lanfranchi and endocrinologist Dr. Joel Brind. She needs to hear the leaders of the post-abortive healing ministries.

She needs to willing to entertain ALL of the data. That’s the difference between great legislators and slobs.

Then if she still sees fit to wage war exclusively on CPC’s we’ll be in a better position to assess her goodness.
